Ukraine: Land of Wounds Though I am too late to talk about the Ukraine crisis yet, the problem remains fresh and fervulent. The creation of new nations has always been problematic, similar is in the case of Ukraine and its ongoing crisis. Ukraine got its independence in 1991 from Soviet Russia and declared itself a neutral state. In 1994 established its partnership with NATO. The further political developments grew bitter with Russia by initiating the closer of economic ties. Hence led to Russia's annexation of Crimea in March 2014. This was further supported by Russian-backed separatists, which resulted in a Russian invasion in February 2022. As a nation, Ukraine is packed with ethnic affiliations. Its ethnicity contributes to enriching its cultural pride and at the same time, it could be a root cause of divisions and tensions in the society.
